We supplied these vacuum circuit breaker units to Alstom as part of the upgrades they are doing for South African Railways. The units are mounted on top of trains and are used to switch between different supply voltages on long distance mineral trains serving the South African mining industry.
Electropak turned and milled the castings to a tight tolerance of +-0.02mm before attaching them to a ceramic insulator. We were able to ensure we met these tight tolerances using our FARO gauge measuring system, which can generate quality reports, including SPC analysis. The completed assemblies were then wet painted at our painting facility.
Electropak’s range of facilities includes: machining and fabrication and painting, meaning that we could offer the customer full support with the parts being manufactured complete in-house.
