Very often on moving contacts, a silver contact tip is required on a copper parts. The silver tip is used to minimise the risk of arcing when switching high voltages.

Here at Electropak Ltd, our highly skilled team of engineers can braze or silver solder the silver contact to the copper part. The silver contact can then be machined up after brazing when extremely tight tolerances are required on the contact face.

Where a bi-metallic contact with a silver tip is required, this can be projection welded on to the end of a steel stud (projection welding is an adaptation of spot welding).

With either of the above processes, the completed contact assemblies can then be silver plated if required, forming an extremely strong joint.
