Bi-metal Contact – Welding Button Contact – Silver Electric Contact
Manufacture of the assemblies often involves a solid or bi-metal contact being attached onto a copper or beryllium copper backing strip. The processes used for metal joining include; riveting, spot welding, brazing and soldering.
The materials used for the contact include silver and silver alloys such as silver nickel. The choice of contact material and backing strip material is dependent upon the application of the part.
Welding button contacts manufactured by Electropak are more suitable for higher temperature applications such as motors and thermostats. These often involve a bimetal contact welded onto a machined part or backing strip.
